I’ve often thought that if Bob Dylan wrote this song, it’d be considered one of his finest tracks from the ’80s (probably somewhere between “Jokerman” and “Blind Willie McTell”), but because it’s done by Dire Straits, it’s only often considered the best song Mark Knopfler ever did. And frankly, that ain’t saying much, although I’m not above liking “Walk of Life” and “Romeo and Juliet.”
